Large and comfortable Louis XV-style armchair in intricately carved and stained walnut, French, late 19th century, circa 1880 / 1890.

Large, flat back, gently curved armrests, a generous seat, and curved legs. Carved all over with cartouches, leaves, flowers, shells, and other stylized Louis XV flourishes. The carving is remarkable for its delicacy and detail.

In excellent condition all around. Newly upholstered in a luxurious cut and uncut chiseled velvet with a jacquard design from Lelievre.

A superb example of the 19th century interpretation of the Louis XV style.
