Side Chairs Louis XV
A pair of side chairs in carved and painted beechwood and upholstery, French, 18th century...
Pair of leggy Louis XV side chairs in carved and tan painted beechwood. French, 18th century, circa 1755.
Each with a curved, violin shaped back above a wide seat, standing on 4 lovely long curving legs. The top rail, apron, knees and feet are carved with stylized flower and trailing leaf motifs. The paint is the original paint that is distressed and has a nice patina.
The woodwork and joinery is solid but show signs of wear and use (see pictures). To be re-upholstered.
This pair of chairs embody that lovely, lively spirit of Louis XV furniture, accentuated by their long, lean curved legs. Charming pieces, full of life and (I am sure) many stories, they are ready for new fabric to start them on their next chapter in a new home…
