Head of Buddha Thailand

Sculpture in lacquered and gilt sandstone, Thailand, 15th-16th century…


Carved in detail in full round, the Buddha with a serene expression, closed eyes, and a slight smile. Hair pulled up in a bun. Mounted on a wooden trapezoid-shaped plinth.

In fine but distressed condition, as would be expected for age. Accidents and losses, wear to the lacquer and gilding.
