Part of a set of six prints representing pagan divinities with grotesque motifs. This print represents Mars, wearing a helmet and armor, holding a sword in his right hand and a shield in his left hand. He is surrounded by rich symbolic ornamentation that includes falcons, cupids, satyrs, wolves, dolphins, vases, and laurel wreaths.  Signed along the base 'Cum Privilegio Regis Stephanus Fecit'.

 

Nice impression in good overall condition. Some very light soiling / staining, otherwise minimal signs of age. Trimmed to the plate mark.  

 

Mounted, matted, and framed under glass. Framed in a giltwood frame.
